Carol Norris, MFT : Psychotherapy for the body, mind, brain and spirit |
THIS IS An LGBTQIA+ FRIENDLY Psychotherapy practice
I celebrate, honor, and respect all genders, gender expression, sexual orientations, and sexual expression.
I recognize the individual and collective trauma caused by the various phobias toward the LGBTQIA+ community. When working in therapy with folks in these communities, we identify the sociopolitical structures where they may have experienced bigotry from institutions to corporations to neighborhoods to schools to family. Rather than pathologizing any trauma from these experiences, we honor how the body, mind, brain, and spirit have creatively adapted to survive. We may then explore and celebrate which survival strategies are working and which may no longer be serving someone, all guided by a client's inherent wisdom. We reclaim and build strengths and resources in whatever way feels true, empowering, and safe.
